Dhaka, 7 July 2018—Imperva, a global best-in-class cyber-security solutions provider on-premise basis, announced in a workshop that they want to have their presence in Bangladesh with developing local resources and train up a national cyber security team before introducing their globally recognized solutions to the private and public sectors. The workshop ‘Protecting Your Critical Data and Application’ .was held on 5 July, 2018 at Padma Lounge of Dhaka Club Limited organized by BCS, BASIS, ISA, NGX, ETPL.

Garen Ling, Regional Sales Director, ASEAN of the company was talking to the technical persons from banks and other business houses that we are covering a shield around your data as like as building a great protective wall around your house, as burglars couldn’t enter your house. Every data-base is special and managed in a unique way; so its solution should be specific with Attack Analytics and by applying artificial intelligence to Automat Group, consolidate and analyze thousands of web application firewall (WAF) security alerts across different environments to identify the most critical security vulnerability.

According to his further statement, Imperva said its only purpose is protecting critical data from the threats of cybercriminals, who are constantly changing their tactics. They make their money through extortion, via DDoS and ransomware, and through theft via data breaches.

Imperva founded in 2002 and they have gone through a steady history of the growth and success, generating $264 million in 2016, with over 5,200 customers and more than 500 partners in 100 plus countries worldwide.

Shyam Sunder Sikder, Secretary for the Posts and Telecommunications Division of Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology told that, Bangladesh got a tremendous success in the mobile phone penetration, most of the mobile phone connection is going to have internet that means we have to protect them from any kind of cyber threat. So we are ready to work with international body to develop our security experts as well as building our national cyber security frameworks.

Ali Ashfak, Chairperson of Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT) told that, we have passed a chunk of time, learned from cyber heist at Bangladesh Bank, which mustn’t be repeated again. Now seriously we are in the field to protect private to public businesses.

Engr. Subrata Sarker, President of Bangladesh Computer Samity noted that for the long time our IT business community is demanding for government’s fund allocation and supports for building a pool of cyber security talent and introducing to the country world class cyber-security tools. He said BCS wants to work with IMPERVA and  any national international company for building a cyber-threat free Digital Bangladesh.

Professor Dr. Munaz Ahmed Noor, the newly appointed VC of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University told, one of the first priorities of his university will be paying attention to the internet security, training and researches. Regarding building a cyber security generation he asked help and ideas from the IT experts.

Tapan Kanti Sarkar, President of the CTO forum, moderated the event and helped the audiences to understand the technical matters of cyber-security and ongoing transactional problems in the banks regarding security.

Quazi M. Murshed, Chief Marketing Officer of Eastern Technology Ptv. Ltd. welcomed the guests and flashed back to the mid 60s when the world stood in the turning point and Bangladesh joined the race of having computing technology.
